THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THERAPEUTIC BED

The influence of the bed on a person's reclining body is achieved by an undulating supportive surface which enables that person to stretch in conformity with the anatomically correct curvature of the spine.

This supportive surface consists of transverse ribs set firmly on longitudinally stretched ribbons. These ribs (above the waist) slope towards the head and (below the waist) towards the feet. Additionally, the supportive surface provides a head rest with neck protuberance and a supportive surface for the calves.

The stretching is reinforced by the movement of the head-rest with neck protuberance under the weight of the head (away from the waist). At the same time the calves (under weight of the legs) stretch in the opposite direction from the waist.

The indispensable curvature of the neck part of the spine and stretching of the neck vertebrae is achieved by a firmly placed head-rest with neck protuberance. The angled position of the supportive surface under the calves provides a more comfortable position for the legs, balanced position of the flexor and extensor muscles, relief for the spine in the waist region (because of the raised knees) and an additional stretching in the lumbar-sacral part of the spine.

The bed's construction makes possible adjustment of the supportive surface to suit the body curvature of each individual. The distance between the ribs can be altered to spread the person's weight according to his height. Consequently the pressure on the recumbent body from the bed's supportive surface is lightly and evenly distributed.

A combination of support for the spine suited to individual requirements, light pressure on the body from below and even stretching makes the patient feel comfortable on the bed and helps to relax the muscles surrounding the spine. This provides a highly effective prevention and cure. The degree of stretching is controllable and light enough to ensure that no damage to the spine results from the process.

The supportive surface formed by ribs allows air to pass through, resulting in an effective transfer of warm air from its source (not included in the package) under the supportive surface of the bed to the patient's body. It is possible to use a water bottle or an electric flat heating element as a source of heat.

The hard and rigid ribs of the supportive surface effectively transfer a vibratory massage effect from the source of vibration (not part of the package), which may be placed under the supportive surface, to the patient's body. Only minimum vibration is needed.

All this combined leads to the creation of unique conditions for the restoration of intervertebral discs of the spine, and precludes any possibility of trauma occurring.
